Timings:The course start daily at 07h30 for 08h00 and end at 17h00 except 1 day, when we will work after hours till 21h00 for night training.  
Place to stay: Accommodation is included for 2 nights at www.kaiamanzi.co.za  
Place for 4x4 training: Training on the course is included at www.4x4kungwini.co.za    
General Notes:
1. You have to organise your own stationery – pen and paper for notes
2. Accommodation and food are included and supper for 2 nights.
3. Own 4x4 vehicle and recovery gear(Dont buy gear, first get information and buy then)
4. More instructions will be forwarded to those who make the 5 vehicles.
5. Lecture venue is on a sand based floor under a Boma – NB!!!  bring a chair, a small table if you want (not a necessity) but useful to write on
6. Own snacks and drinks (water / cool drink) for during the day
7. Weather affected, so bring appropriate clothing. Old clothing is better because of water and mud.
8. CATHSETA stands for Culture Arts Tourism Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority.  
It is the new name for THETA (Tourism and Hospitality Education Authority).
Costing: The cost is R2000 per person and Couples are R1500 per person sharing and includes the following
1.    Accommodation (Couples R1050 for 2 nights)(Singles R780 for 2 nights)
2.    Breakfast  at Lodge, Lunch at Lodge and Tea & Coffee at Lecture place
3.    Dinner (2) is made by yourself with the ingredients supplied by Eco4x4africa
4.    Course material
5.    Lectures are presented in Bronkhorstspruit / Langebaan -  practical on different venues. 
6.  Eco route driving on the farm at Bronkhorstspruit / Atlantis
Registration
Registration is essential and must be done 4 weeks before the course starts, by sending Alex an email and request the registration form.
Payments are due in 2 parts R500 with the registration (not refundable) and R1500 3 weeks before the course.

Practical Training

Practical – Assignments on (1) Your region (2) Namibia (3) Botswana (4) Mozambique

This is highly recommended but not compulsory. You can only do proper planning and put together

a honest itinerary once you have visited the destinations. Only then you can answer your guests! 

Practical Training – Going on Tour with Alex and Alta – This is highly recommended but not compulsory.

You cannot talk with confidence if you did not visit the destinations beforehand. 

Practical Exhibiting at Beeld Show / Getaway 2012. This is compulsory and in Feb/Aug 2012 and you have to work at the show

for 3 days to understand how to handle guests before you take them on tour.

Driver Competency Certificate: Not part of this course (GIFT) and must be done separeratly with additional costs

The Driver Competency Certificate has now become a reality and those who want to drive a 4x4 on-road or off-road,

have to complete the Diver Competency course to qualify with a certificate. 

 If it’s not in 2013 but sooner or later this training will become compulsory.
African Off-road Academy has been Accredited to offer this training since Feb 2010 with the TETA Accredited Provider status (TETA09-201).
In African Offroad Academy we are a total of 70 qualified DCC Trainers, 42 Assessors and 7 Moderators with 30 training Approved Training Facilities

1.  US 254135: OFF-ROAD VEHICLE OPERATOR
2.  US 254154: ADVANCE OFF-ROAD VEHICLE OPERATOR    The format of the DCC course (: Driver Competency Certificate)

·         An intro to the new mechanisms under the CATHSETA / SAQA regulations and process
·         All the basic aspects of a 4x4 – Technical Theory (High Level)
·         Driving all the various obstacles & the associated techniques – Technical Theory
·         Practical discussion / demo/ training on all obstacles on the academic track complete / Agreement on readiness for assessment
·         Written, open book test (multiple choice & written answers)
·         Verbal Interview
·         On track (obstacles) Observation & Evaluation
Training will always only be a maximum of 5 vehicles with 10 people
People to be single owners per vehicle then 5 people with 5 vehicles
Otherwise 5 vehicles with 10 people – Driver and Co-driver / Husband – Wife Teams
 A pre-requisite due to the intensity of this course, as we do it in 2 days, is that you
a)    know your 4x4 vehicle,
b)    have a good 4x4 driving competency,
c)    4x4 driver experience,
d)    know your basic recovery gear.
As required by the Unit Standard
Day 1: Between you and the Instructor (Me) at 4x4 Kungwini
Theory Class,
Written Test,
One on One Interview,
Observation & Discussion & Practical Driving  Assessment
Day 2: Between you and the Moderator (Appointed)
Correct completion of the 4x4 Course with your vehicle
Failure and retraining with the Instructor for another assessment
Final completion of the 4x4 Course 
After the 2 days training and if you have passed it -then
Your portfolio will be MODERATED by The Training Connection company
(Not us because the Company that train cannot Moderate the same student)
Submitted to CATHSETA / TETA by AOA
Final  assessment by the CATHDETA -TETA SETA.( paper excercise)
Once successful you will receive a DCC directly from SETA
Followed by Statement of Results from the SETA.
This process by CATHSETA/TETA/SETA can take up to 1 Year and longer!
